The Garden, Danberry at Inverness’s specialized memory care neighborhood, is the only place for memory care in the Birmingham, Alabama, area to feature the renowned Heartfelt Connections—A Memory Care Program®. This person-centered philosophy is grounded in the belief that abilities that remain are far more important than those that are lost. Our team employs reminiscence tools to help residents’ family members capture the details of residents’ lives—their careers, hobbies, likes, and dislikes. We then apply the insights gained from each life story to create a meaningful, individualized care plan.

Customized activities are designed to promote physical and emotional well-being, prolong daily functioning, and maintain a sense of purpose and satisfaction. These may include gardening, cooking, movies and reminiscing, as well as arts-oriented activities such as singing, listening to music, and working with rhythm. Memory boxes and scrapbooks are used as well. The goal is to always, whenever possible, incorporate aspects of everyone’s individual life story.

Our memory care program embraces the 8 Dimensions of Wellness—encouraging cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being while helping residents feel secure, valued, and fulfilled each day. We also provide Health and Wellness Navigation for memory care residents.
